PSM TITLES FOR 2018/2019:

(1) Title: DEVELOPING A COMPACT PORTABLE EVAPORATIVE COOLING SYSTEM

STUDENT: NURUL FADIAH BINTI ISMAIL

Objective:
-Develop a compact portable cooling system
-Performance test for the cooling system

Synopsis:
The main idea of the project is to develop a new compact portable air cooler. The performance of the cooler will be tested in term of it capability in reducing air temperature. Multi fan will be used for the system. Different configuration of fan, outlet mechanism and the usage of ice will be tested in this study.

(2) Title: LINEAR GENERATOR PERFORMANCE DETERMINATION FOR WAVE HARVESTING SYSTEM

STUDENT: SARASWATHY A/P RAJANDRAN

Objective:
-Develop a test rig for wave harvesting system

Synopsis:
A test rig for wave harvesting system will be developed by using a linear generator. Wave pattern will be simulated by using different pattern of crank shaft shapes.  Linear movement of the magnet will be manipulated to produce electricity. The amount of electricity produced by the test rig will be measured for different parameter such as linear generator configuration and crank shaft shapes.

(3) Title: PERFORMANCE COMPARISON BETWEEN DIFFERENT TYPE OF EVAPORATIVE COOLING SYSTEMS

STUDENT: THAM JIE YI

Objective:
-improve current evaporative cooling system
-compare the performance of different type of cooling system approaches

Synopsis:
The available evaporative cooling system will be tested for their effectiveness before run the experiment. Modification need to be made to reduce errors and ineffectiveness of the system. Different type of evaporative cooling system will be tested such as string evaporative, cylinder evaporative and droplet evaporative. Temperature of the air will be measured in order to determine the best approach and configuration of each system.

(4) Title: MINI WAVE ENERGY HARVESTING TEST RIG USING SOLENOID MAGNET

STUDENT: THORAISINGAM A/L RAMAN

Objective:
-Develop a mini wave harvesting test rig
-To study different wave pattern obtain by mini wave simulator
-To electricity from artificial wave by using solenoid magnet

Synopsis:
A small wave simulator and wave harvesting system will be developed in this study. Wave pattern will be investigated first, before harvesting electricity by using solenoid magnet.  Linear movement of the magnet will be manipulated to produce electricity. The amount of electricity produced by the test rig will be measured for different parameter such as wave amplitude and the magnet configurations.
